La Londe, an exceptional terroir

La Londe, located close to the sea in the heart of the Massif des Maures, benefits from outstanding conditions for producing wines full of character. The 11 grape varieties of Château Pas du Cer flourish on the schist soil and south-facing slopes. They dig their roots deep into the rock to draw upon the minerality of a unique terroir, resulting in wines of rare elegance which express all the typical characteristics of Provence.

Close to the sea

La Londe is located in a completely unspoilt valley which leads from La Londe to Collobrières.

It has the advantage of being located close to the sea and this acts as a veritable thermal regulator.

The terroir has a Mediterranean climate which is more temperate than inland thanks to the maritime

influence that eases the low temperatures in winter and regulates the more excessive temperatures

in summer.

Protected from heavy rainfall, La Londe’s terroir benefits from strong winds which are more regular

than inland.

An estate with eleven grape varieties

The Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Tibouren, Carignan, Rolle, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sémillon,

Clairette and Viognier varieties encapsulate a tapestry of aromas and a whirlwind of personality.

While some of the grape varieties blend and balance each other with delicacy, others naturally

combine to create authentic, silky and refreshing wines. Château Pas du Cerf captures the spirit and

soul of Provence without parallel.

The grape varieties are perfectly adapted to the Mediterranean climate and plunge their roots deep

into the rock to draw on the minerality of a unique terroir, giving rise to wines of natural elegance.

The special characteristics of the terroir

The vineyard benefits from outstanding conditions for producing wines full of character and

exceptional naturalness. If you go into the valley where Château Pas du Cerf is located, you can easily

picture the great range of grape varieties flourishing in the schist soil with the vines growing straight

on the rock. Thanks to the south-facing slopes, the sun-drenched grapes growing on this ‘laminated’

rock reflect the distinctive character of the terroir and produce wines with a sought-after minerality.

The terroir, which is located on the western part of the Maures massif, comprises on the surface

pebbles with a high quartz content. In the subsoil, the parent rock is rich in small vertical deposits,

mainly sandstone and schist. Its brown hue, that sometimes verges on carmine red, evokes all the

power of a generous wine.

The La Londe appellation

The 2008 vintage year has added its name to the crus of Provence. Under Geneviève’s leadership, the

La Londe Winegrowers’ Association has given greater recognition and prominence to wines from this

region.

The very particular texture, the delicate influence of the schist soil and the undeniable elegance of

these wines fully deserve the appellation ‘AOP Côtes de Provence La Londe’. The terroir of La Londe

has been classified by the ‘Institut National des Appellations d’Origine’. This is an additional

guarantee of quality for this exceptional and unique terroir.
