As he came with his court, the King stayed few months on the Riviera. The Count of Provence, Lord of Hyères, invited François the Ist to hunt stag on his lands.
As it was an undulating country, the King followed to hunt in walking. A huge stag was killed and as a tribute to the King, this place was called : « Le Pas du Cerf » (stag’s pace).
