CHATEAU PAS DU CERF
Its history:
From human memories, the origin of « Pas du Cerf » was relating by the ancients on evenings.
In 1533, our king of France, François the Ist stayed in south of France to celebrate his son’s wedding Henri the 2nd with Catherine de Médicis, the Pope’s niece. As he came with his court, the King stayed few months on the Riviera. The Count of Provence, Lord of Hyères, invited François the Ist to hunt stag on his lands.
As it was an undulating country, the King followed to hunt in walking. A huge stag was killed and as a tribute to the King, this place was called : « Le Pas du Cerf » (stag’s pace).
